Progression|

Last semester i talked about how i wanted to learn how to play the piano, in my last blog you can see how i went from not playing at all to learning how to play simple keys. I then learnt how to read a sheet of music for the piano and i properly learnt where the keys where on the piano.

After my first session i decided to stay back and play piano, After about an hour of playing around i finally learnt the original song that i have been struggling to learn at the start of my first semester ( See first blog post). Not only did i learn how to play the basic tune i learnt how to add both hands to play the tune and the melody. I do need more practice but now i know i can use both hands to play two separate parts on the piano i can now learn a wider range of songs which i intend to do and hopefully progress to play a lot more sings two handed.

This is a video of myself playing 'Adele's-Someone like you' using two hands. It will take me time to get the song to sound smooth with no gaps or pauses but i still need time to train my hands.

Mind Mapping|

In our first session we were introduced to our new project.

The 60's & 70's

We got into groups and drew a mind map out and wrote down anything we knew about the 60's and 70's.
This is what we had came up with.
Because we are going perform pieces of music from the inspiration of the 60's and 70's this helped us get a basic understanding as to what the 60's and 70's were.

Aims and Intention|

My aims and intentions for this semester…

My main aims and intentions this semester is to stick to learning piano and progress in learning new techniques such as finger stretching  (Chang, no date) and how to play using two hands. Another one of my main aims this semester is to be confident enough to sing and really push myself to perform.  Last semester I lacked in confidence when it came to singing as I had never done it before, I dont think I have the right techniques or even a voice to be able to even push myself but I want to make it one of my main goals.
This semester in my spare time I have been learning to play a few more songs and to also pick up on learning new chords to help me potentially create my own music in the future. This is an example of me playing a basic tune to All of me- John Legend. Its not a very long video but I keep a video diary of me playing tunes so that I can look back and see my progression throughout the year and to also potentially go back to the songs and make them more complex by adding in bass notes (left hand) and so I can constantly progress in piano learning.

This is me playing 'all of me'-John Legend.
